YouTube outlier finder
Paste a channel link or a keyword and instantly see the videos that beat their own channel’s average — ranked by multiplier, split into long-form and Shorts, exportable to CSV. The fastest free way to find the ideas already breaking out.
Find breakout videos in seconds, not spreadsheets
An outlier is a video that beat its own channel’s usual views — and outliers are the single most useful thing on YouTube, because they show you ideas that work without needing a big channel. The problem is finding them: doing it by hand means opening a channel, eyeballing dozens of videos, and guessing the average. This tool does it instantly. Paste a channel or a keyword and it returns the videos ranked by how far they beat the baseline — the real breakouts, at the top.
Two ways to search
- By channel — paste any channel link or @handle to see that channel’s biggest outliers. Perfect for reverse-engineering a competitor: which of their videos over-performed, and what the winning ideas have in common.
- By keyword or niche — type a topic (e.g. “reddit stories”, “air fryer”, “stoicism”) to see outliers across many channels at once. This is how you find a repeatable angle: when several small channels all break out on the same idea, that’s a pattern worth copying.
What the ranking shows
Every video shows its multiplier (views ÷ the channel’s median — 5× means five times normal), the channel and its size, views, and whether it’s long-form or a Short. Favour outliers on small, young channels: a 10× on a 2,000-subscriber channel is a far stronger copy signal than a 3× on a giant, because it proves the idea carries the video, not the audience. Split by format to compare where breakouts happen (or jump straight to the Shorts outlier finder), and export the whole list to CSV to build a swipe file.
From an outlier to your next video
Finding the breakout is step one; copying it well is the rest. Study the angle, title and thumbnail of the top outliers — not just the topic. Confirm the keyword has demand in the keyword tool, check the niche is worth entering in the niche checker, and turn the pattern into ideas with the video ideas generator. Questions
What is a YouTube outlier finder?
A tool that finds videos which beat their own channel’s average views — the breakouts. Instead of scrolling a channel and guessing, you paste a channel or keyword and get the videos ranked by multiplier (views ÷ the channel’s median), so the real over-performers are at the top.
How do I find outlier videos on a YouTube channel?
Paste the channel link or @handle here. The tool pulls its videos from the index and ranks them by multiplier, so you instantly see which uploads over-performed and by how much — the fastest way to reverse-engineer what works for a competitor.
Can I find outliers by keyword, not just by channel?
Yes. Type a keyword or niche and the finder returns outlier videos across many channels at once. When several small channels break out on the same angle, that’s a repeatable pattern worth copying.
What makes an outlier worth copying?
A high multiplier on a small, young channel. A 10× on a 2,000-subscriber channel proves the idea carried the video, not a big existing audience — so you can realistically repeat it. A modest multiplier on a giant channel tells you much less.
Is the outlier finder free, and do I need to log in?
It’s free with no login. You can search channels and keywords and export to CSV. A free account raises the result limits and unlocks saved searches and 5×+ alerts.
What if the channel isn’t in your index?
The finder works on TubeMind’s index of 500K+ videos. If a channel isn’t indexed yet, sign in (free) to index it on the spot, then its outliers appear. Keyword search always works against the live index.
