The TubeMind Chrome extension
The TubeMind Chrome extension shows TubeMind research on the YouTube page you are already watching: outlier multipliers, views per hour, revenue ranges, similar channels and AI actions. It reads only public details of the page in front of you, and only after you turn research on.
Who it is for
- Creators who research ideas while watching YouTube
- Faceless channel owners checking a niche before they start
- Anyone who wants to see if a video beat its own channel's usual views
- People who want similar channels in the same language, not only US peers
Use something else when
- Checking your own private YouTube Analytics. It never connects to your YouTube account
- Browsers other than Chrome or Chromium based browsers that install from the Chrome Web Store
- Getting exact earnings. Money figures are TubeMind estimates, not YouTube data
How to use it
- Open the extension page on TubeMind and click Add to Chrome. It opens the official Chrome Web Store listing.
- After it installs, click the TubeMind icon in your browser bar, then click Connect TubeMind.
- Sign in or create a free TubeMind account. The connect page makes a private key and the extension picks it up by itself. Wait for Connected.
- In the extension popup, read the short notice and click Turn on research. Nothing is sent before this.
- Open any YouTube video or channel. The TubeMind bar appears under the title. Click Research for the full panel.
What the extension shows on YouTube
The extension puts TubeMind research right on the YouTube page you are looking at, so you do not have to copy links into another tab.
- Watch page: a launcher bar under the title with the outlier multiplier, average views per hour, an estimated revenue band, a monetization signal and the niche verdict. Click Research to open the full panel with tabs such as Overview, Evidence, Competitors, Analytics, Niche, Free tools and AI.
- Channel page: a chip with the channel's public YPP thresholds, a Channel tools menu, and extra tabs in YouTube's own tab bar for Similar channels, Analytics and Niche overview.
- Home, search and subscriptions: small badges under each video for views per hour, multiplier and subscribers, plus a filter bar to sort by views per hour, multiplier, smallest channels or newest.
- Shorts: a small card with the channel's public thresholds, uploads, age, average views and how this Short compares with the channel's usual.
The multiplier is a video's views divided by the median views of the channel's last 30 uploads. So 12x means the video got about twelve times what that channel usually gets. That points to the idea, not the audience size. Read more in how the outlier score works.
You can also save a video or channel to your account and use free tools like the title score and transcript from the panel.
What it reads and what it sends
Research stays off until you turn it on in the popup, after a short notice. You can pause it any time in the popup or in Settings, and reconnecting your account does not turn a pause off.
When research is on, it reads automatically:
- Public fields on the page in front of you: channel and video ids, titles, durations, related channels and videos shown on the page, and the counts YouTube already shows.
- The ids of videos shown on home, search, subscriptions, channel and watch pages, to draw the badges.
It skips your history, Watch Later, playlists, account pages, and private or unlisted videos. It does not read your Google account and asks for no YouTube sign in.
Only when you click an AI action, such as Analyze comments or Summarize transcript, it reads the comments already loaded on the page (up to 80) or that video's public transcript, and sends that text with your request.
Where it goes: the public page details go to TubeMind with your signed in account, so your research loads and the channel is checked through the official YouTube Data API. AI requests go to TubeMind's built in AI, which passes them to its AI provider, unless you added your own AI key. With your own key, the request goes straight from your browser to OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude, and TubeMind never sees the key or the text.
Full details are in the Privacy Policy and on how we use YouTube API Services.
Settings you can change
Open the extension's Settings from the popup. There you can:
- Pick where the panel sits: under the video, in the right sidebar above suggestions, or as a floating card at the bottom right.
- Turn the video card badges on or off, or pause research.
- Choose the AI answer language, for example English, Roman Urdu, Urdu or Hindi.
- Add your own OpenAI, Gemini or Claude key if you want. Your provider bills that usage under its own limits. The key is stored in this browser's local extension storage, so use a key with a spending limit and remove it when you are done.
- Disconnect. This also cancels the extension's key on the TubeMind server. If you are offline, it is removed from the browser only, and you can cancel it from Account, API keys.
Limits and things to keep in mind
- Estimates, not YouTube data. Multipliers, niche verdicts, RPM, revenue bands and the monetization signal are TubeMind estimates from public statistics. The monetization line only says which public YPP thresholds a channel meets. It never says a channel is monetized. See how the revenue estimate works.
- New channels. A channel TubeMind has not seen yet is indexed when you open it. Until fuller stats load, the panel can show provisional numbers, and some fields may be empty.
- YouTube quota. When the daily YouTube quota is used up, the extension shows when it resets, and new channels wait in a queue.
- Plan allowances. Built in AI has a daily allowance by plan, and some actions need a paid plan. See plans and limits.
- Official build only. Research works in the TubeMind release from the Chrome Web Store. Other copies of the extension are refused.
Questions
Is the TubeMind extension free?
Yes. You install it free from the Chrome Web Store and connect it to a free TubeMind account. Paid plans give higher daily allowances, for example more built in AI runs.
Can TubeMind see my YouTube account or watch history?
No. The extension asks for no YouTube or Google sign in. It skips history, Watch Later, playlists and private or unlisted videos, and reads only public details of the page you have open.
Nothing happened on the connect page. What do I do?
Make sure the extension is installed and turned on in this browser, then reload the connect page. If it still does not respond, the page shows a key you can copy and paste into the extension's Settings under the manual key option.
Why do I see Research is off?
Research stays off until you allow it once. Click the TubeMind pill or the extension icon, read the notice, and click Turn on research. Reconnecting your account does not turn a pause off by itself.
How do I remove the extension and its data?
Click Disconnect in Settings to cancel its key, then remove it from chrome://extensions. Nothing it stored in the browser stays after removal.
