Spotter Studio ended public access in October 2025, so you need a replacement for each job it did. Use 1of10 for titles and thumbnails, TubeMind for free outlier research, and vidIQ or YouTube's Ask Studio for brainstorming. No single tool on this list matches Studio's whole workspace.

Key takeaways

  • Spotter announced the change in October 2025, and Studio moved in-house (Tubefilter, 22 Oct 2025).
  • Studio became broadly available only in September 2024, so it lasted about a year in public.
  • The closest match in shape is 1of10, with Basic at $19 a month.
  • YouTube is deprecating its own Inspiration tab too, from August 2026, and points creators to Ask Studio.

If you are searching this in 2026, you may have found old reviews that still treat Studio as something you can sign up for. You cannot. I am working from public reports here and not from a member's account. I also run TubeMind, which appears in this list. What I can do is map what Studio was reported to do onto tools you can buy today.

The interesting part is Spotter's stated reason. Its chief executive told Tubefilter that major platforms were building ideation into their own products. That prediction looks sound a year later. It should also shape how you spend money, because some of what you paid Studio for now comes free from YouTube.

What happened to Spotter Studio

Studio was Spotter's generative AI suite, pitched by the company as "a brainstorm partner, project planner, and research copilot" (Tubefilter). It looked at a creator's channel to suggest topics and draft thumbnails. Here is the timeline as far as I could confirm it.

Spotter said Studio would continue inside the company, so this was a retreat from selling it to creators. I found no announcement of a return.

Replace it job by job

Studio's value was having these jobs in one place. You can get each job elsewhere, and the cost is switching between tabs.

The last row is plain advice. I have not found a tool here that I would call a like-for-like project planner, and a shared doc is free. Do not pay for a suite to replace a checklist.

Say you used Studio twice a week: ideas on Monday, title and thumbnail on Friday. Ask Studio or a free ideas tool covers Monday. An outlier search supports the idea. For Friday, 1of10 Free lets you test the thumbnail tool before spending $19. That is a working setup at no cost, and you upgrade only the step that limits you.

What I like and miss in each one

1of10

What I like: it is the nearest in shape, with AI tools and research together, and research never uses credits.

What I miss: the free plan shows 5 outlier results, and Pro is $89 billed monthly.

TubeMind

What I like: strong free research, a public scoring method and a verdict on each niche.

What I miss: this is the research half only. It has no thumbnail generator, and paid plans are arranged by email for now.

vidIQ

What I like: the AI Coach answers questions about your own channel, which is the part of Studio I think people will miss most.

What I miss: credits run out and do not roll over. The free pool of 150 is 15 regular coach messages.

Ask Studio

What I like: it is free and it comes from YouTube, which holds the data.

What I miss: I cannot promise you have it. Availability varies, and YouTube's help pages are in the middle of a rewrite. My Research tab guide explains the changes.

A warning about building on any one tool

Studio's end is a good reason to keep your own records. Export ideas and notes on a schedule, wherever you work. YouTube's Inspiration tab shows the same risk from another side: its help page says ideas saved in earlier versions can be exported through Google Takeout, so if you used it, do that soon.

That applies to TubeMind too. Our plans include CSV export, starting at 100 rows, and I would rather you used it than trusted any vendor to last forever.

What I could not verify

Spotter's own help center and blog post would not open for me on 2 November 2026, so the 31 October date and the refund details come from search listings of those pages, and the rest comes from Tubefilter's report. I have left out Studio's old prices, because the listings I saw disagreed. Feature lists for Studio beyond Tubefilter's description are third-party, so I kept to the jobs in that report plus outliers, which directories list as a core tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is Spotter Studio still available?

No, not as a public product. Tubefilter reported in October 2025 that Spotter would stop offering Studio to creators and keep it as an in-house tool. Spotter's help center gave 31 October as the end of public access. I found no sign of a public return as of 2 November 2026.

Why did Spotter Studio shut down?

Spotter's chief executive told Tubefilter that big platforms were building ideation tools into their own products, so Spotter wanted to focus where it was most different. The company said it would use Studio's abilities inside its advertising and licensing businesses. Some Studio roles were cut at the same time.

What is the closest alternative to Spotter Studio?

No single tool matches it. Studio combined brainstorming, outliers and packaging. 1of10 comes nearest on packaging plus outliers, vidIQ on an AI assistant that knows your channel, and YouTube's own Ask Studio on brainstorming. For outlier research alone, TubeMind has a free plan with up to 50 results per search.

Is there a free Spotter Studio alternative?

Yes, if you combine them. Ask Studio is built into YouTube Studio where it is available. TubeMind covers free outlier research, and 1of10 and vidIQ both have free plans with limited AI allowances. Together they cover most of what Studio did, though you lose the single workspace.

Did Spotter Studio members get refunds?

Spotter's help center said so. Search listings of its wind-down notes describe refunds based on the unused part of a subscription, issued to the card on file. If you were a member and did not receive one, contact Spotter directly, since I could not open those pages to read the full terms.
